Veteran Housing

Serena Cura primarily serves elderly individuals aged 65 and older, with a focus on those reentering society after incarceration. Eligibility is determined based on age, need for supportive services, and ability to live in a community setting. Residents must be able to function without 24-hour skilled nursing but require help with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, and medication reminders. We also welcome individuals referred by parole officers, social workers, hospitals, or transitional housing programs. Each applicant undergoes an intake assessment to determine appropriate placement and service needs.

The base monthly cost covers a wide range of services designed to support health, dignity, and daily living. These include housing in a shared, supervised setting, three nutritious meals per day, personal care assistance (e.g., dressing, bathing, hygiene), housekeeping, laundry, medication reminders, 24/7 staff supervision, and social engagement activities. Additional optional services—such as 1-on-1 counseling, staff-accompanied transportation, or enhanced personal care—are available for an extra fee. All care plans are customized based on individual assessments and needs.

Serena Cura is uniquely designed to meet the needs of elderly parolees transitioning back into society. We offer safe and stable housing with supportive supervision, helping residents avoid recidivism and reintegrate successfully. Services include case management to navigate public benefits, community habilitation for independent living skills, and access to counseling and crisis support. We also collaborate closely with parole officers and social services to ensure compliance, continuity of care, and personal growth. Our trauma-informed approach respects each resident’s history while promoting healing and independence.

Absolutely. Family involvement is encouraged and supported at Serena Cura. We provide structured visiting hours, offer updates to designated family contacts, and welcome family participation in care planning meetings (with the resident’s consent). For relatives unable to visit regularly, we offer virtual communication options like scheduled video calls or messaging through a family portal. Maintaining relationships with loved ones is essential to residents’ emotional well-being, and we strive to make that connection as seamless and inclusive as possible.
